It is a pleasure to welcome back talented jazz pianist and composer Jonny Liebeck to PizzaExpress Live. He returns after a successful year in 2025, releasing his 'Influences' EP & a run of monthly gigs at venues all over London. He will be performing some new work inspired by his unique fusion of 20th century jazz & electronic dance music, as well as some tunes from his previous albums/EP's 'Influences', 'The Next Chapter' & 'Mellow Mind'.
Expect an exciting fusion of lush synth leads/pads, deep & soulful jazz harmony, lyrical guitar/sax melodies, groovy basslines & intricate drum breaks, inspired by jazz, funk, latin jazz, jungle, breakbeat & house music.
Born and raised in West London, Jonny started his musical life playing the Church Organ at Mass every Sunday from the age of 13. During his late teen years, although progressing rapidly as an organist, Jonny started teaching himself jazz piano.
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music & Trinity Laban, Jonny gigs all over London and has performed at many London venues (Royal Albert Hall, Pizza Express & Bush Hall to name a few). In 2019, he played keyboards for Mica Paris at The Round Chapel, Clapton and performed with Cuban jazz violinist Omar Puente at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival & the Southbank Centre.
Jonny has led his own band for the past 6 years releasing numerous albums/EPs under his name, his most recent 'Influences' EP released in January 2025. As a composer & band leader, he has performed at Pizza Express Soho, 606 Club, 91 Living Room, Hampstead Jazz Club, Crazy Coqs, The Bear Club, The East Side Jazz Club & Jazz Cafe Posk amongst many other London venues.
Drawing from his roots in classical and jazz music, Jonny’s sound is also heavily influenced by electronic dance music genres such as House, Jungle & Breakbeat, and he blends these influences together in his writing, creating a very interesting and unique sound.
